What Time of Day Should I Charge My EV?
There isn’t a right or wrong time to charge your vehicle, but if you’re looking to save money, it’s best to do so during “off-peak hours.” Off-peak hours vary, based on the utility provider, but 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday, and all day on weekends and holidays are often considered off-peak hours. Because there is less demand for electricity during off-peak hours and to incentivize individuals, you’re charged less per kW hour by your energy provider when you charge your EV during these times.

Should I Charge My Electric Car Every Night?

As a rule of thumb, you should always have at least 20% battery charge, especially in the winter when the cold weather can drain the battery faster. However, your EV doesn’t need to be at 100% every day — in fact, it is healthier for the battery to be under 80% charge on a regular basis.
